
National Postal Mail Handlers Union
MEMBERSHIP —
The National Postal Mail Handlers Union (NPMHU) is a progressive labor union representing more than 50,000 Mail Handler craft members in postal facilities across the United States.
LOCALS -
Mail Handler members belong to a local union, with jurisdiction in their city, town, or area. Locals elect their own officers and conduct their own day-to-day business. They negotiate a Local Memorandum of Understanding to supplement the National Agreement on certain local concerns
OFFICERS —
NPMHU National Executive Board
VP Central Region, National Secretary-Treasurer, VP Northeastern Region, National President, VP Eastern Region, Vice President Southern Region, VP Western Region. The national resident officers include the National President and the National Secretary-Treasurer.
HISTORY —
The NPMHU formed an association in 1905 and incorporated in 1912.
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING —
The 2006-2011 National Agreement with the U.S. Postal Service was overwhelmingly ratified on January 25, 2007.
AFFILIATIONS —
The NPMHU is affiliated with a variety of other organizations, including the Laborers’ International Union of North America, the AFL-CIO, the Communications International Union, and the Postal Employees Relief Fund
OPERATIONS —
Nationally, NPMHU has its headquarters in Washington D.C. to administer the Union and to implement programs and policies mandated by the Constitution and the National Executive Board
CONVENTIONS —
The NPMHU Convention convenes every four years and is the highest governing body in the Union. Between Conventions, the National Executive Board directs the Union’s policy and programs.
